Wilkes-Barre City Health Department hosts Vaccine Clinic and Drive Through Antigen Testing

COVID-19’s omicron variant continues to spread quickly through our community causing record numbers of infections and hospitalizations to our friends, families, and community members. The omicron variant is four times more transmissible than the delta variant.

If you are vaccinated, it helps to keep your symptoms mild and increases the chances of hospitalization. As cases continue to rise in our community, those who have received their first two shots are strongly encouraged to receive a booster shot. Data shows the booster shot reduces your protection against severe disease and hospitalization up to 85%. The vaccines are safe, effective and the boosters dramatically increase your protection.

If you want to get your first shot or second shot to prevent severe illness or get a booster shot to substantially increase your level of protection the health department is having a vaccine clinic on:

Wednesday, January 19th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Simms Center at Wilkes University located at 169 S. Main Street.

Additionally, the health department will be conducting a Drive Through Antigen Testing Site on Wednesday, January 19th and Thursday, January 20th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, located at the Henry Student Center parking lot on the campus of Wilkes University, pictured below. The testing site can be accessed at 267 S. Franklin Street. The testing site will also be available on Thursday, January 27th and Friday, January 28th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
