Today the City of Wilkes-Barre’s Neighborhood Impact Team (NIT) conducted inspections of several properties on Hutson Street.
A complete sweep was conducted on Hutson Street in the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre from Metcalf to Spring Street. Most were scheduled rental inspections in which owners/landlords were present during the time of inspection. Representatives from each city department walked through each property addressing any violations found. Additionally, department representatives spoke to residents regarding any concerns that they may have about the neighborhood.
“We are taking the City back, one street at a time,” remarked Mayor George immediately following the NIT Hit.
The Neighborhood Impact Team (NIT) canvas City neighborhoods, with all city departments, including Police and Fire, addressing vacant and abandoned properties and addressing any building or health concerns or any other code violations found.
“NIT Hits” are based on complaints made by city residents and received by various City departments. Mayor George thanks all the residents who have brought attention to many of these properties, as the City continues to address blighted properties. In addition, Mayor George said the City is in the process of demolishing more blighted properties.
